What is the Trinity?
The doctrine of the Trinity (Tri-Unity of God) allows individuals to understand the complex nature of God. It teaches us that there is one eternal God who exists as three distinct Persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Trinity does not divide God into three parts, but instead explains that his divine essence exists fully in each distinct Person. In other words, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the same God. When human creation was dead in sin, our God acted in every Person of his being to save us. The Father gave the Son, the Son offered himself on the Cross, and the Holy Spirit led us to Jesus.
Who Is God?
God is the one and only creator of the entire universe. He created everything and is in control of anything that ever existed or will exist. In the Bible, God is described as “the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see"
(1 Timothy 6:15-16). Ultimately, God's power, love, and righteousness is unfathomable to the human mind. His true essence cannot be completely defined or imagined, but we are able to see a glimpse of his amazing attributes through the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is the presence of God within the lives of each individual who believes in him. The bible mentions,"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come" (2 Corinthians 1:21-22). In the Bible, prophets (teachers) were filled with the Holy Spirit to speak on the behalf of God. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit guides us throughout each day, listens to our prayers, and empowers us to reflect the goodness of God. Through the Holy Spirit, God is with you and He will never leave you!
Who is Jesus?
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ was born of a virgin (Mary) as the Son of God. The virgin birth took place to prove that Jesus was far from ordinary, setting him apart from the rest of humanity. Jesus lived a sinless life, but willingly suffered from our sins in order to give us access to eternal life in Heaven. At the time, Jesus was accused of blasphemy (disrespecting God) and sentenced to death by crucifixion (the execution of a person by nailing or binding them to a cross). On the third day after being crucified and buried in the tomb, Jesus rose from the dead, ultimately confirming his identity as the Son of God (Matthew 28).
